Contracting
Women-Owned
Businesses Gain in Federal Contracts
The
National Women's Business Council believes that there is much to applaud
concerning the governments efforts to open up federal procurement
opportunities for women-owned businesses. The FederalTimes.com reported
in October 2004 that government agencies spent 8.2 billion dollars on
procurement from women-owned businesses. The Defense Department
accounted for 59% of the total.

The two most important aspects of a women owned

Business development
- You need to let the
Government know
that your company, and your product and/or services exist!
GSA Schedule Contract Awards
The Government is focusing on purchasing products
and services from the GSA Schedule. It is less time consuming, more
efficient, and less costly than the traditional means of agency
procurements. Numerous products and service classifications already
exist on the schedule and the government is constantly adding more.
Get a GSA Schedule contract award for your product
or service. The advantages are that the Government will know of your
product and/or service, your product or service will have already been
negotiated to be a best value for the Government, so the Government can
order your product or services as they need.
Women in Government Contracting
The U.S. Government
has made many efforts to promote women owned businesses in government
contracting. Many Government agencies and programs have been created to

women owned businesses.
